Policy statement

Vigil Care Staffing is committed to being an equal opportunities employer. We believe that everyone deserves to be treated fairly and with respect, and that a diverse and inclusive workforce makes us stronger. This policy sets out our commitment to fair treatment for all employees, workers and job applicants, and it applies across recruitment, placement, training and everyday working life.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to everyone who works with or for Vigil Care Staffing, including directly employed staff, care-sector workers on assignment, and candidates applying for roles. It also guides how we work with the clients and partners we serve across Greater London.

Our commitment under the Equality Act 2010

We are committed to preventing discrimination and promoting equality of opportunity in line with the Equality Act 2010. We do not discriminate on the basis of the protected characteristics defined in that Act: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation. Decisions about recruitment, assignment and development are based on skills, experience and suitability alone.

Recruitment and selection

We aim to make our recruitment and selection processes fair, transparent and accessible. Candidates are assessed against the genuine requirements of the role, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. Where a candidate needs a reasonable adjustment to take part in our process, we will seek to provide it.

Training and development

We are committed to giving all workers fair access to training and development opportunities. Support for professional growth is offered on the basis of need and suitability, without regard to any protected characteristic.

Preventing discrimination, harassment and victimisation

We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, bullying or victimisation of any kind. Everyone has a responsibility to treat colleagues, clients and service users with dignity and respect. Concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously and handled sensitively, and no one will be treated less favourably for raising a genuine concern.

Responsibility and review

Responsibility for this policy rests with the management of Vigil Care Staffing, but upholding it is the responsibility of everyone in the organisation. We keep the policy under review and will update it to reflect changes in the law and in good practice.
