Introduction

This statement sets out the steps Vigil Care Staffing takes to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our own operations and our supply chains. Modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to preventing modern slavery in any part of our activities. This statement is made in the spirit of the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Our business

Vigil Care Staffing supplies vetted care-sector workers, including healthcare assistants, support workers and healthcare cleaners, to care providers across Greater London. Because we recruit and place people, safer recruitment sits at the heart of how we protect workers from exploitation.

Our commitment

We have zero tolerance for modern slavery. We expect the same high standards from everyone we work with, including the clients we supply and the partners who support our operations. We are committed to ensuring that no form of forced labour, servitude or human trafficking takes place within our business or our supply chains.

Due diligence and our supply chains

We seek to understand and manage the risk of modern slavery in our supply chains. This includes taking care to work with reputable partners and being alert to the warning signs of exploitation. Where we identify a risk or concern, we act to address it promptly and appropriately.

Safer recruitment and vetting

Our vetting process is a key safeguard against exploitation. We verify the identity and right to work of every worker, confirm references, and pay careful attention to indicators that a person may be at risk of modern slavery, such as controlled documents or wages paid to a third party. These checks help protect the workers we place as well as the people they care for.

Training and awareness

We raise awareness of modern slavery among our team so that they can recognise the signs and know how to raise concerns. Building this understanding into our recruitment and day-to-day operations helps us respond quickly if a concern arises.

Responsibility and review

Responsibility for this statement and for preventing modern slavery rests with the management of Vigil Care Staffing. We keep our approach under review and will update our practices and this statement as needed to reflect changes in our business or in good practice.
